{July 7} Girl at a Rock Show

Who here is at Calgary right now Stampeding their little country heart out? Who caught the band performing tonight? I’m still shaky from what happened!

First off, it’s no mystery that my favourite band is Simple Plan which was performing tonight. I just think their music is really fun and that they as people are talented, hot and amazing. Overall I couldn’t be more proud to say that I am a big fan and that I was first row of their concert last year when I frantically blogged about it.

So today me and my bud get to the Stampede grounds early to catch them singing only to find that the first row is already filled so we stood in the second. The New Cities came out and set up for eternity, Seb and Jeff came to do some quick sound checks. Eventually the Cities did their thing at 8pm but as people began to push and shove extremely hard. I knew that the pit would be rough, but I didn’t realize that security wouldn’t do anything about it and that people would start falling down, being taken up by guards, screaming because they were in pain and couldn’t breathe. I got my shoes trampled on, my shirt was somehow undone, our backpack flew open and we tried pushing and shoving but nothing worked despite joining forces with the cool people next to us. (If you were by any long shot one of them, I was the girl in the plaid shirt – HI!)

Everyone was drained even before Simple Plan came out I was shoved into a tiny space and couldn’t enjoy the music, I was too busy making sure I was breathing  so we decided to go to the back and stay there all dizzy and sweaty.

I stood at the back watching the lights flash at night kind of thinking “It would be cool if they saw me” (which is probably every girl’s secret embarrassing wish at a rock concert) as I danced in my muddy white jeans and pretended they did, haha.

After they finished I was all oddly emotional and we went around back to see if we could catch them maybe walking out but all we got was a merchandise booth and then a glimpse of the cities who walked by us all “celebrity” like when really we were probably the only people who recognized them. After about 15-20 min I wanted to go BUT just when I thought it was dumb to think that they would come out I heard THERE THEY ARE and from there everything was a bit blurry and surreal.

Next thing I know Pierre walks up to me, takes and signs our bag and internally I’m like HOLY CRAAAAAAP but on the outside I’m all ooooooo 0_OOOOOOOOOOOO x_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Then Jeff walked up when we asked him and signed it too – said something, we said something back and he kept walking. Chuck was next and got around to it as well. Then came Seb and I was too nervous to ask him so I watched him walk around, hug people and take pictures. (There weren’t any barriers or gates, they just all walked  around and mingled)  But no David. The security piled out and yelled that everyone was now gone, so everyone left, only about 4 of us there. Then we look over at the stage and David walks out on it, so we quickly run over and he crouches down at the side of the stage and tells us to be quiet and that as long as we don’t cause a scene (like 10-15 of us) then he’ll sign everyone’s stuff.

I got my phone signed!!!!!

Honestly one of my dreams just came true tonight and I was the last person to think it would happen! Thankfully I wasn’t one of the people who flipped – not when it came to any band member so I’m proud that I didn’t make an idiot of myself, I was just taken back and happy!

MY CONCLUSON: NEVER SAY NEVER!!!! DREAM BIG AND DON’T LISTEN TO ANYONE TELLING YOU OTHERWISE, IT CAN COME TRUE!
